Biopharma’s next data advantage may start with genetics

Biopharma is awash in health care data, but more information does not automatically translate into better development decisions. The harder work is connecting the right data in ways that clarify disease biology, reveal meaningful patient patterns and help teams act earlier with greater confidence.

In this video interview, Brianna Murray, business development executive for real-world data at Labcorp, discusses how genetic insights can become more powerful when linked with electronic health records, claims data and patient registries. Genetics can point to the biological “why” behind disease, while real-world data shows how that biology plays out across patient populations. Together, those views can help sharpen target selection, improve patient stratification, inform endpoints and support earlier de-risking.

Murray also explains why useful genetics data depends on more than scale. Phenotyping depth, population diversity, linkage quality, harmonization and provenance all shape whether a data set can move research forward. For rare disease and oncology, deeper connected data may help identify biomarker-defined patients, reconstruct natural history and build stronger evidence for regulators and payers. Watch the full interview to learn how integrated data infrastructure could become a critical engine for precision medicine and smarter R&D strategy.
