Sanofi taps Snowflake for AI field agent help

French drugmaker Sanofi is launching an artificial intelligence agent to help its field reps as the life sciences industry continues to ramp up its use of next-generation technology.

The agent, called Concierge for Field, was built with Snowflake Cortex AI.

The tool prepares the Big Pharma's global sales representatives for physician and provider visits. In a single conversation, a rep can ask for a pre-call plan and immediately see the highest-priority physician based on specialty and prescribing history, review past engagement and have the full plan emailed to their inbox, according to a June 2 press release.

Snowflake said the tool reduces hours of manual research to seconds. The field-rep tool is part of a broader AI push at Sanofi, which is deploying agents across R&D, procurement, IT, HR and field sales.

“For years, we have been building complex pipelines to move data in and out of expensive software, just to access our own data,” Emmanuel Frenehard, chief digital officer at Sanofi, said in the release. “With Snowflake and Elementum, we saw a clear path forward. We are building AI directly on our data and reinventing how the company runs, from R&D to manufacturing to commercial. This is how Sanofi becomes the first biopharma powered by AI at scale.”

Sanofi’s latest rollout builds on data infrastructure work the company has been discussing publicly for years. In a Snowflake customer video posted two years ago, Dimitrije Jankovic, Sanofi’s global head of data and AI strategy, said the platform had helped Sanofi “reuse our data assets and really begin treating them as a product.”

That earlier work included customer interactions, Jankovic said, pointing to the challenge of creating a unified view of customer interaction data across global business units and markets.
