The Apothecary Shops Reaches Agreement to Distribute EYLEA™ Injection

Newly Approved FDA Drug Prescribed To Treat Neovascular (Wet) Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD)

PHOENIX, Jan. 19, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Apothecary Shop Wholesale, Inc. an affiliate of The Apothecary Shops Specialty Pharmacies, has received distribution rights from pharmaceutical manufacturer Regeneron for its new drug EYLEA™ (aflibercept) Injection, and began to provide this new drug to physicians and patients this past November.

In late 2011, the EYLEA (aflibercept) Injection was approved by the Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration (AMD), which is a leading cause of blindness in older adults. Macular degeneration is diagnosed as either dry (non-vascular) or wet (vascular); the wet form usually leads to more serious vision loss.

"With over 17 years of ophthalmology practice experience, The Apothecary Shops are among the finest specialty pharmacies in the nation, particularly with regards to ophthalmological medications," said Jim Rehovsky, R.
